The Bannister Downs Dairy Creamery delivers a new benchmark for dairy production in Western Australia. This Design and Construct project saw the Perkins Delivery team, in conjunction with a design partner, began with an Early Contractor Involvement phase to evaluate value engineering opportunities, innovations and finalise the design. At the end of this phase, the main construction and equipment integration phase commenced.

Works included the construction of an end to end dairy facility; in simple terms the livestock come in one end and the packaged product to market exits the other. This is unique in the fact that all processing is onsite, unlike any other dairy in WA. Further to this the facility integrates corporate offices and a tourism interface to enable the public to view the process.

The facility is state of the art with high quality finishes, intricate external facades and technologically advanced creamery processing. Perkins Builders were responsible for the integration and coordination of the specialist equipment into the construction of the Creamery, which includes Robotic automatic milking system, homogenisation, pasteurisation, Ecoclean sachet packaging (Bannister Downs Trademark), bottling machines and all other milk storage and distribution systems.

The building is separated into three distract zones, being process areas, public/office areas (two levels) and external plant/despatch, including associated roadways and car parks.

This project was awarded Best Industrial Building $20 million to $50 million at the 2018 Master Builders – Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards and was a Finalist for 2018 Best Project.

The Bannister Downs Dairy Creamery also had success at the at the 2019 Master Builders – Bankwest Building Excellence Awards South West Awards, winning Best Industrial Building $20m – $50m.
