This project saw the complete redevelopment of the existing Australind Shopping Centre incorporating the construction of a standalone building for the new Aldi store; the first in the Southwest. This project was negotiated following our successful completion of the forward work package; the demolition of the existing hardware building.

The redevelopment also involved the demolition of the existing verandahs, existing brick facades being partially deconstructed to a reduced height, installation of architecturally designed verandahs, entry statements, new automatic sliding doors, associated paving and carpark upgrades.

The standalone building for Aldi required the installation of a new 154 bay carpark and tensile car bay shade structures.

The project was undertaken to provide the Australind Shopping Centre with a fresh new image in time for the launch of their new brand “The Village – Australind” and the opening of the Aldi supermarket.

Perkins are proud of their involvement in the project and believe that the works have delivered on the client’s desire for a modern sophisticated look, while maintaining a sense of the original character.

This project received the award for Excellence in Brick & Block Paving at the 2017 Master Builders – Bankwest South West Building Excellence Awards.
